The Civil Field Placement Ethics Seminar is the required 2-unit graded companion course to the Civil Field Placement Program, where students work on law-related matters in non-profit and government agencies under the supervision of attorneys and receive academic credit. The Seminar meets the Professional Responsibility requirement and along with the field placement component meets the Professional Skills requirement at the law school. The Seminar's goal is to provide students with an opportunity to explore professional responsibility topics and learn through hypotheticals and presentations related to their field placements and Seminar topics. Students are expected to complete memos, timesheets, forms, and presentationa to earn credit for the Field Placement Program and Seminar. In order to earn academic credit, students must complete a Field Placement Application available at: http://www.law.berkeley.edu/2813.htm. Field placements are offered for 4 units or 16 hours/week of work over the 14 weeks. All field placements must be approved before students are eligible to receive academic credit. The first Seminar meeting will be during the first week of classes.
