295.7A sec. 1 - Away Field Placements (Fall 2012)

Units: 4-10


Students who receive permission from the Dean of Students and the Field Placement Director may spend a semester away from the law school campus working for approved non-profits or government agencies doing legal work under the supervision of an attorney. Students must have their placements approved before they are eligible to receive academic credit. While students are away, they submit time sheets, journals, and reports/forms, as well as maintain contact with the Field Placement Director. Students are directed to: http://www.law.berkeley.edu/179.htm for additional information. Students are required to attend an orientation the semester before they plan to be off campus. Students are urged to contact Sue Schechter, Field Placement Director, at sschechter@law.berkeley.edu, or 510/643-7387 as soon as possible if this an option they are exploring.

Prerequisites:
Students must have completed their first year of law school in order to be eligible for the Away Field Placement Program.
