Criminalization of Poverty

What: "Whose Poverty? Whose Crime? Unlocking the Criminalization of Poverty," a two-day symposium being held by the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law's Thelton E. Henderson Center for Social Justice.
Educators, heads of non-profit organizations, journalists and legal scholars will gather to discuss such issues as the root causes of criminalization of the poor, laws and policies that criminalize the poor, media stereotypes of the poor, and steps that can be taken to address these issues. The event is free and open to the public.

Thursday, March 6, noon to 5:30 p.m.
Friday, March 7, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Thursday's events will take place at the law school's Booth Auditorium.
