Boalt Hosts Conference in Honor of the Fifty-Year Anniversary of the Warren Court

On February 27 and 28, Boalt Hall will host a conference honoring the constitutional legacy of U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren (Boalt Hall Class of 1916). Timed to commemorate the fifty-year anniversary of the Warren Court 's initial term, Earl Warren and the Warren Court : A Fifty-Year Retrospect will address the lasting impact the Warren Court has had on the advancement of equal rights in American law. The conference will feature talks by leading constitutional lawyers, legal historians and political scientists. Professor Jesse Choper, the Earl Warren Professor of Public Law and former law clerk to Justice Warren will open the conference with a talk titled "Earl Warren-the Man and the Court." Additional lectures will explore the Court's legacy in areas including criminal justice, freedom of speech, equal protection and desegregation. The conference will also examine the impact of the Warren Court on legal development in Europe, Asia and the Americas.

Organized by the Earl Warren Legal Institute (EWLI), the conference is free and open to the public. All events will take place in 140 Boalt.
