Jerry Falk '65 Receives Judge Learned Hand Award from American Jewish Committee
The San Francisco chapter of the American Jewish Committee honored Jerry Falk '65 with the Judge Learned Hand award at a tribute dinner on Friday, November 2. The annual award is presented to outstanding leaders in the legal profession who exemplify the high principles for which Judge Learned Hand, senior judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit from 1924 to 1951, was renowned. Widely admired as a dean among American jurists, Judge Hand was famous for the extensive range of decisions, which he tendered in more than two thousand cases.
Falk was selected for being one of America's premiere legal minds and a "heavy hitter" who embodies the qualities that Judge Hand represented. A senior member of the San Francisco-based Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk & Rabkin, Falk serves as the director of the firm's Litigation Department and on its management committee. Widely recognized by his peers, he is currently listed in "Best Lawyers in America" both in the fields of business litigation and appellate practice and in the San Francisco Chronicle's list of the "Best Lawyers for 2003." For two consecutive years, he has been named a Top 100 Super Lawyer by Law & Politics. Falk has served as president of the Bar Association of San Francisco, the Association of Business Trial Lawyers of Northern California, and the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers.
