Judge Lloyd George '61 is Named 2005 Recipient of Boalt's Jensen Award
Boalt Hall honored U.S. District Court Judge Lloyd George '61 as the 2005 recipient of its Judge D. Lowell and Barbara Jensen Public Service Award. More than 170 colleagues, friends and family members gathered on October 11 for the ceremony at the Golden Nugget Hotel in Las Vegas. View a photo display of the event.

Created in 1998, the Jensen Award is given annually to a prominent Boalt graduate for outstanding dedication to public service. The award is a tribute to U.S. District Judge D. Lowell Jensen '52, a former Alameda County district attorney and U.S. deputy attorney general; and his late wife, Barbara.

After building a successful private practice in Las Vegas, Judge George was appointed in 1974 to preside over the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nevada. A decade later, President Ronald Reagan nominated him to the U.S. District Court in Nevada. He served as the court's chief judge from 1992-97. In 1999, Congress voted to name the new federal courthouse in Las Vegas in his honor. Boalt students Chorisia Folkman '06 and Christina Hioureas '07 are this year's recipients of the Jensen summer fellowships in public interest law.
