Winners Announced in McBaine Moot Court Competition
Valerie Meyer ’03 is the winner of the Best Oral Argument for this year's James Patterson McBaine Honors Moot Court Competition. Meyer argued as petitioner against respondent Jennifer Bretan ’04 in the final round of the competition. In addition to participating in the final round of oral arguments, Bretan received the award for Best Respondent Brief. Best Petitioner Brief was awarded to Heather Weaver ’03.

This year’s competition focused on Lavine v. Blaine School District, a 9th Circuit case that weighs First Amendment rights of students against school safety concerns. Oral arguments were heard by Judge William Fletcher of the 9th Circuit and Justices Carol Corrigan and George Nicholson of the California Court of Appeal.
