Rebecca Lubens Awarded German Chancellor Scholarship
Rebecca Lubens ’04 has been awarded a German Chancellor Scholarship to investigate the preservation of historic sites in Germany, using Berlin as a case study. Designed by Lubens, the project’s goal is to examine how land use law, historic preservation legislation, and the efforts of local community organizations contributed to the rebuilding of Berlin after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the German Chancellor Scholarship is awarded to 10 young Americans each year. Recipients pursue a specialized research project in Germany that allows them to gain insight into the social, cultural, economic and political situation in Germany.
