Students Argue in McBaine Moot Court Competition
On Monday, April 7, Jennifer Bretan ’04 and Valerie Meyer ’03 will compete in the final round of the James Patterson McBaine Honors Moot Court Competition. The annual competition is open to all second- and third-year students and the winner is selected by a distinguished panel of judges.
The students will argue Lavine v. Blaine School District, a 9th Circuit case that weighs First Amendment rights of students against school safety concerns. Arguments will be heard by Judge William Fletcher of the 9th Circuit and Justices Carol Corrigan and George Nicholson of the California Court of Appeal.
