Center for Social Justice Hosts Brown v. Board of Education Conference
On November 13 and 14, the Center for Social Justice will host Rekindling the Spirit of Brown v. Board of Education: A Call to Action. The conference will begin Thursday with the Mario G. Olmos Law and Cultural Diversity Memorial Lecture presented by Elaine Jones, president and counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund. Her talk will focus on the unfulfilled promises of the 1954 decision and ideas for increasing equality in education. The lecture will take place at 4:30 p.m. in Booth Auditorium.

On Friday the conference will continue with a series of panel discussions comparing Brown’s original transformative vision with our current educational system and exploring strategies to create equal opportunity for all students. Panels will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. MCLE credit is available. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Erin Campbell at 510-643-8010 or ecampbell@law.berkeley.edu.
