Students Argue in McBaine Moot Court Competition
On Monday, April 8, Hajir Ardebili '02 and Caryn Adams '03 will compete in the final round of the James Patterson McBaine Honors Moot Court Competition. The annual competition is open to all second- and third-year students and the winner is selected by a distinguished panel of judges.

The students will argue Brian B. v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Education, a 3rd Circuit decision regarding educational services in correctional institutions. Arguments will address whether or not the Constitution's Equal Protection Clause is violated by a Pennsylvania law providing full educational benefits to juveniles sentenced to state correctional institutions, but only minimal educational services to those confined to county facilities. Arguments will be heard by Judges Procter Hug Jr. and Alex Kozinski of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, and Justice Kathryn Werdegar of the California Supreme Court. The final round will take place Monday, April 8, at 4 p.m. in Booth Auditorium. For more information, contact Bill Fernholz at 510-643-4447 or by e-mail at fernholz@law.berkeley.edu.
