David Frohnmayer elected to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences
David B. Frohnmayer '67 has been selected to become a fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences (AAAS). Frohnmayer, who serves as president of the University of Oregon, is being honored for his contributions in educational administration. He was previously dean of the University of Oregon School of Law, and he has served in the Oregon House of Representatives and as the state's attorney general. In addition to his career accomplishments, his many honors include the Pioneer Award from the University of Oregon and the Boalt Hall Alumni Association Citation Award.

The AAAS was founded in 1780 by John Adams and other leading scholars "to cultivate every art and science which may tend to advance the interest, honor, dignity and happiness of a free, independent and virtuous people." Today, the academy brings together expert scholars, policymakers, business leaders and writers who provide multidisciplinary analyses of complex social, political and intellectual topics.

Frohnmayer will be inducted along with other fellows in a ceremony at the AAAS headquarters in Cambridge, Mass., on Oct. 5, 2002. For a complete list of the 2002 fellows, visit www.amacad.org. For more information, please contact Chris Bush at 510-643-8215 or cbush@law.berkeley.edu.
