Interlibrary Loan

Boalt Faculty and Staff

For any material you may need from any library, please place your request by using the Faculty Services webpage.

If you prefer to initiate your own interlibrary request, you may use any of the methods available to Boalt students. Please see below.

Boalt Students

Expedited ILL

Boalt maintains an expedited Interlibrary Loan program with the law libraries at UC Davis, Hastings and Stanford. Please fill out this form. Please be sure the book is at the LAW library (Mabie Law Library at Davis or Crown Law Library at Stanford), NOT at the Shields library at Davis or the Green library at Stanford.

ShareLaw

Boalt now partners with a number of large law libraries across the nation to provide interlibrary loan services. Here is how to use this service:

  1. Do a search in LawCat, Boalt's online catalog, by author, title, keywords or subject.
  2. If you do not find what you need in LawCat, or if our copy of an item has been declared missing, look for the "Search ShareLaw" button located at the top of the LawCat screen.Clicking Search ShareLaw will perform the same search in the larger online catalog containing all of the records from the participating libraries.
  3. Once you find the book you want, simply click "Request this item."
  4. Subsequent screens will ask for your affiliation (Boalt Law) and for your name and patron ID (your employee or student ID number)
  5. After you click on submit, the request is sent to one of our consortium libraries and within a few days the book will arrive at Boalt. We will email you when the book arrives, and it will be delivered to your faculty mailbox or for students, the book will be held at the Patron Services Desk.

Melvyl Request

If you find a book you need in the Melvyl catalog, you may click on the yellow "Request" button at the top of the catalog record, fill out the form, and an interlibrary request will be generated for you.
