These instructions should only be used if your Mac either isn't getting the Pharos popup (and you know you're connected to the internet) or if your Mac is producing errors at the printer every time you try to print a PDF. If you're not having any difficulties with LAW_BandW_Queue printing from your Mac, there's no need to follow these steps.

If you are not getting the Pharos Popup asking for your username:

  1. If you are receiving a message like this, make sure you have connected and logged into AirBears and then try printing again:
  2. If you are connected to AirBears and still not receiving a popup, click on the Apple in the upper-left corner of your desktop and select Software Update...
  3. Look to see if there is an HP Printer Software Update available. If so, install it and restart your computer.
  4. Try printing again. If it still does not work, click on the Apple and select System Preferences.
  5. Select Users & Groups, go to your username, and click on Login Items.
  6. Look to see if there is an item in the list called Popup or Popup (All Users).
  7. If there is not, click on the + (Plus Sign) icon. You may need to click on the padlock in the lower left corner and enter your admin password first.
  8. In the window that appears, click on dropdown menu near the top and select Macintosh HD (or whatever you've renamed your hard drive). Then open the Library folder, followed by the Application Support folder.
  9. Open the Pharos folder and select Popup or Popup.app and click Add.
  10. Popup should appear in the list of Login Items. Click the checkbox next to Popup to hide it.
  11. Restart your computer and try printing again.

If the printer is showing an error message when you try to print out PDFs:

  1. Go to System Preferences (you can access this easily by clicking on the Apple in the upper-left corner of your desktop and selecting System Preferences).
  2. Click on Print & Fax.
  3. Select the LAW_BandW_Queue printer on the lefthand side.
  4. Click the Options & Supplies button.
  5. Click on the Driver tab to view print driver information.
  6. Click on the drop-down menu next to Print Using. Choose Select Printer Software.... A new window will pop up.
  7. In the search field of the new window, type "laserjet".
  8. From the options that appear, select HP LaserJet Series PCL 4/5 and click OK.
  9. If it is not already checked, please check off Duplexer so that you will be able to print double-sided from your laptop.
  10. Keep clicking OK/Apply until you've closed all preferences windows. Try printing again (first making sure that you are connected to AirBears)!
