Student email accounts are administered through the campus system, called CalMail. You may log in here. If you are having trouble with your account, you may find answers to your questions through the IS&T CalMail knowledge-base.

Creating an Account

Law students create CalMail accounts by going here and following the instructions and prompts under Set up your account — Email. Users will be authenticated via CalNet, then checked for eligibility.

Configuring Email Clients for CalMail

CalMail offers POP and IMAP access to CalMail accounts. POP access will take mail from CalMail server and save it to your personal computer, whereas IMAP will leave the mail on the server. IMAP is a newer, fuller featured protocol for managing mail. Instructions for configuring email clients are listed here:

Windows: Thunderbird, Outlook 2003, Outlook Express

Mac: Thunderbird, Mail

If after following the above instructions, you are still having trouble, consult these pages for further help: problems receiving mail; problems sending mail.

To forward email from your @berkeley.edu account to another address, go to the CalMail homepage and click manage My Account. Log in and click manage mail forwarding... . Click yes on the forward incoming messages option, and enter a valid email address to which to forward your mail.
