The competition is open to second and third-year law students and to candidates for LL.M. degrees. Entries must be submitted to the Dean. Up to two articles per law school may be submitted by the Dean to the competition.

The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, known for the Grammy Awards, announces its annual Entertainment Law Initiative (ELI). The ELI program encourages dialogue on important legal issues facing today's music industry. Students are challenged to research such an issue and propose a resolution.

ELI consists of two elements: a legal writing contest, co-sponsored by the ABA Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries, and a high-profile luncheon held during Grammy week.

The first-place winner will receive $5,000, and four second-place winners will receive $1,500 each. All winners will receive a gold-level Grammy Awards ticket, round-trip airfare to the Grammy Awards ceremony, hotel accommodations, an invitation to MusiCares Person of the Year Dinner, and an invitation to the Grammy Nominees Celebration.
