Thursday: Press Conference & Overview and Friday: Conference

All sessions will be held at the the Bancroft Hotel, located on Bancroft Avenue in Berkeley. The Bancroft Hotel is across Bancroft Way from Boalt Hall School of Law at 2680 Bancroft Way. To get to the Bancroft Hotel, you can follow the driving directions below. You can also print out campus and Bay Area maps, locate the parking structures near Boalt and find links to other visitor resources.

Driving Directions to the Bancroft Hotel:

Oakland Airport

  • Follow Highway 880 eastbound (toward Downtown Oakland) to Highway 580 west to Berkeley.
  • Highway 580 joins Highway 80 through Berkeley.
  • Take the Ashby Avenue exit and turn right onto Ashby Avenue.
  • Turn left onto Telegraph Avenue.
  • Turn right onto Dwight Way.
  • At the second stoplight, turn left onto Piedmont Avenue.
  • At the next stop sign, turn left onto Bancroft Way. Boalt Hall is the first building on your right. Immediately after the first stop sign on Bancroft Way, the Bancroft Hotel is on your left, next to Cafe Strada.

San Francisco Airport (Highway 101 from the San Francisco Peninsula)

  • From the airport garage or pickup area, follow the signs to Highway 101 North.
  • Take Highway 101 North and follow the signs to Highway 80 East/Bay Bridge.
  • Follow Highway 80 East over the Bay Bridge (there is no toll charge from this direction).
  • After the bridge, continue on Highway 80 toward Berkeley (it will join Highway 580 west).
  • Take the Ashby Avenue exit and turn right onto Ashby Avenue.
  • Turn left onto Telegraph Avenue.
  • Turn right onto Dwight Way.
  • At the second stoplight, turn left onto Piedmont Avenue.
  • At the next stop sign, turn left onto Bancroft Way. Boalt Hall is the first building on your right. Immediately after the first stop sign on Bancroft Way, the Bancroft Hotel is on your left, next to Cafe Strada.

Southbound Highway 101 (from San Rafael or northern areas)

  • Follow Highway 101 South to Highway 580 East (Richmond/San Rafael Bridge).
  • Take the Richmond/San Rafael Bridge over the bay. (There is no toll charge this direction.)
  • Follow Highway 580 and it will join with Highway 80 west toward Berkeley.
  • Take the University Avenue exit and turn right onto University Avenue.
  • Follow University Avenue east for approximately 2 miles to Oxford Street.
  • Turn right onto Oxford Street, which becomes Fulton Street.
  • Turn left onto Durant Avenue and proceed east for approximately 1 mile.
  • (Note: you will pass a public parking structure in the 2400 block - just before Telegraph Avenue on the right hand side of the street.)
  • Turn left onto Piedmont Avenue.
  • At the next stop sign, turn left onto Bancroft Way. Boalt Hall is the first building on your right. Immediately after the first stop sign on Bancroft Way, the Bancroft Hotel is on your left, next to Cafe Strada.

Northbound Highway 101 (from south of San Francisco)

  • Take Highway 101 North and follow the signs to Highway 80 East/Bay Bridge.
  • Follow Highway 80 East over the Bay Bridge (there is no toll charge from this direction).
  • After the bridge, continue east on Highway 80 to Berkeley (it will join with Highway 580 west).
  • Take the Ashby Avenue exit and turn right onto Ashby Avenue.
  • Turn left onto Telegraph Avenue.
  • Turn right onto Dwight Way.
  • At the second stoplight, turn left onto Piedmont Avenue.
  • At the next stop sign, turn left onto Bancroft Way. Boalt Hall is the first building on your right. Immediately after the first stop sign on Bancroft Way, the Bancroft Hotel is on your left, next to Cafe Strada.Highway 580 Westbound (from Pleasanton)
  • Take Highway 580 westbound. Take the Highway 80/Highway 580 exit toward Berkeley. (The highways merge through Berkeley.)
  • Take the Ashby Avenue exit and turn right onto Ashby Avenue.
  • Turn left onto Telegraph Avenue.
  • Turn right onto Dwight Way.
  • At the second stoplight, turn left onto Piedmont Avenue.
  • At the next stop sign, turn left onto Bancroft Way. Boalt Hall is the first building on your right. Immediately after the first stop sign on Bancroft Way, the Bancroft Hotel is on your left, next to Cafe Strada.

Eastbound from Highway 80 (Bay Bridge)

  • After the bridge, continue on Highway 80 toward Berkeley (it will join Highway 580 west).
  • Take the Ashby Avenue exit and turn right onto Ashby Avenue.
  • Turn left onto Telegraph Avenue.
  • Turn right onto Dwight Way.
  • At the second stoplight, turn left onto Piedmont Avenue.
  • At the next stop sign, turn left onto Bancroft Way. Boalt Hall is the first building on your right. Immediately after the first stop sign on Bancroft Way, the Bancroft Hotel is on your left, next to Cafe Strada.

Westbound from Highway 80 (from Sacramento)

  • Take the University Avenue exit and turn right onto University Avenue.
  • Follow University Avenue east for approximately 2 miles to Oxford Street.
  • Turn right onto Oxford Street, which becomes Fulton Street.
  • Turn left onto Durant Avenue and proceed east for approximately 1 mile.
  • (Note: you will pass a public parking structure in the 2400 block - just before Telegraph Avenue on the right hand side of the street.)

Westbound from Highway 24

  • Take the Berkeley / Tunnel Road exit and continue west on Tunnel Road, which becomes Ashby Avenue.
  • Just past the Claremont Hotel, turn right on Claremont Avenue and make an immediate left onto Claremont Boulevard.
  • Claremont Boulevard becomes Belrose Avenue and then Derby Street (at the mandatory left).
  • At the next stop sign, turn right onto Warring Street.
  • Continue through the next stop sign and follow the road as it curves left and becomes Piedmont Avenue.
  • At the next stop sign, turn left onto Bancroft Way. Boalt Hall is the first building on your right. Immediately after the first stop sign on Bancroft Way, the Bancroft Hotel is on your left, next to Cafe Strada.

Eastbound from Highway 24

  • Exit at 51st Street and Telegraph Avenue.
  • Turn right and proceed east on 51st Street for two blocks
  • Turn left onto Telegraph Avenue for approximately 1 1/2 miles
  • Turn right onto Dwight Way.
  • At the second stoplight, turn left onto Piedmont Avenue.
  • At the next stop sign, turn left onto Bancroft Way. Boalt Hall is the first building on your right. Immediately after the first stop sign on Bancroft Way, the Bancroft Hotel is on your left, next to Cafe Strada.

Westbound from Highway 13

  • Continue west on Highway 13 until it ends in Berkeley. Highway 13 becomes Tunnel Road and then Ashby Avenue.
  • Just past the Claremont Hotel, turn right on Claremont Avenue and make an immediate left onto Claremont Boulevard.
  • Claremont Boulevard becomes Belrose Avenue and then Derby Street (at the mandatory left).

BART
The least expensive way to get from the airport to your hotel is to take the Bay Area Rapid Transit. You can get from Oakland airport to The Downtown Berkeley station is an hour for under $6.

Parking
Street parking in the neighborhood surrounding Boalt Hall is controlled by parking restrictions (such as 2 hour limits). If you park in the City of Berkeley, please check carefully for posted parking restrictions. Most parking meters now take quarters, nickels and dimes.

The following list of public parking lots located near Boalt Hall will help you if street parking is unavailable. These lots are also indicated on the downloadable Campus Map. All lots require a fee for parking. Parking is at your own risk:

  • College Avenue between Bancroft Way and Durant Avenue (east side of street)
  • Bancroft Way between College Avenue and Bowditch Street (left side of street)
  • Bancroft between Bowditch Street and Telegraph Avenue (left side of street)
  • Bancroft Way between Telegraph Avenue and Dana Street (right side of street)
  • Durant Avenue/Channing Way between Ellsworth Street and Dana Street
  • Channing Way between Ellsworth Street and Dana Street
