Intellectual Property Scholars Conference (IPSC) 2006

The Berkeley Center for Law & Technology (Boalt Hall School of Law) and the Stanford Program in Law, Science and Technology (Stanford Law School), will co-host the 6th Annual Intellectual Property Scholars Conference on August 10-11, 2006.

The IP Scholars Conference brings together intellectual property scholars to present their works-in-progress, as well as providing young scholars with networking opportunities and allows them to benefit from advice and guidance offered by veteran academics.

IPSC 2006 will include both plenary and "break out" sessions, allowing scholars to choose whether to present their works-in-progress in smaller group settings or before the larger conference group. The conference will have space for 8-10 plenary presentations and approximately 75 presentations in the smaller sessions which will run on parallel tracks. To the extent possible, break-out sessions will be scheduled in thematic clusters and avoid obvious topic or interest "conflicts."

The IPSC format is designed to facilitate free-ranging discussion and to help people hone their ideas. Papers presented should be works in progress that can benefit from substantial commentary and revision. Because of the importance of group discussion, we ask that attendees and presenters plan to stay for the whole conference.

The conference is co-sponsored by the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology, Boalt Hall School of Law; the Intellectual Property Law Program, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University; the Center for Intellectual Property, Law and Information Technology, DePaul College of Law; and the Stanford Program in Law, Science and Technology, Stanford Law School.

There is no charge to attend the conference.  Conference participants (including paper presenters) are expected to pay for transportation and lodging.  Special hotel price arrangements can be found on the "Directions" page.

The conference hosts will provide complementary food and drink throughout the conference, including the IP Scholars Dinner on Thursday, August 10, 2006.
