American Law Institute

The American Institute was established in 1923 as a result of "a general dissatisfaction with the administration of justice." Its chief goal is "to promote the clarification and simplification of the law and its better adaptation to social needs, to secure the better administration of justice, and to encourage and carry on scholarly and scientific legal work." It is best known for publishing Restatements of the law, upon which many legal scholars and judges refer in their writings and judgments.

Information Technology Association of America

ITAA is a trade association representing 9,000 direct and affiliate members of the U.S. information technology industry. ITAA's members represent a broad spectrum from America's largest corporations to the entrepreneurs building the blockbuster IT companies of the future.

Continuing Education of the Bar of California

Founded in 1947, CEB is a nonprofit, statewide continuing legal education provider. It is part of the University of California and is cosponsored by the State Bar of California. CEB produces over 60 different live programs at more than 400 sessions throughout California and an additional 1,000 sessions via video. CEB is also a major legal publisher, offering over 200 titles covering all aspects of California law in the form of books, Action Guides, subscriptions, and CD-ROMs.

The School of Information Management at the University of California at Berkeley is a new graduate school offering a groundbreaking program in information management. The program is interdisciplinary in nature with professors from fields of computer science, library science, law, economics and public policy.

The Fisher Center for Management & Information Technology

The Fisher Center for Management & Information Technology is located in the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. The Fisher Center was established in 1994 and is devoted to interdisciplinary research, outreach, and education on the strategic use and management of information technology in organizations. Their current research agenda focuses on the networked organization in a networked economy, and addresses the business and IT management issues stemming from the explosion of the Internet and intranet technologies.

The Business and Law Section of the California State Bar Association

The Business and Law Section of the California State Bar Association serves as a forum to educate members on recent developments and current issues in all fields of business law. It provides a vehicle for the business bar to communicate with the general public, the California Legislature, regulatory agencies, business trade associations, and other interested groups. Specific substantive areas covered include corporations, partnerships, unincorporated business associations, banking, bankruptcy, securities, commercial code, debtor-creditor relations, arbitrating unfair competition and antitrust.
