Welcome to Professor Krieger's Website!

Professor Krieger joined the Boalt faculty in 1996. After graduating from New York University in 1978, she practiced as a civil rights lawyer at the Employment Law Center in San Francisco and as a senior trial attorney for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

During her 13 years of practice, she handled, at both the trial and appellate levels, a number of groundbreaking employment rights cases. From 1991 to 1995, she was a lecturer and then an acting associate professor at Stanford Law School, where in 1995 she received the John Bingham Hurlbert Award for Excellence in Teaching. In the year prior to joining the Boalt faculty, she served as a research fellow at the Stanford Center on Conflict and Negotiation, researching judgment in legal decision making.

Her most recent publications include "The Intuitive Psychologist Behind the Bench" in the Journal of Social Issues, and an edited book, Backlash Against the ADA: Reinterpreting Disability Rights (University of Michigan Press, 2003). Earlier publications include: Socio-Legal Backlash," in the Berkeley Journal of Employment and Labor Law (2000); "The Burdens of Equality: Burdens of Proof and Presumptions in American and Indian Civil Rights Law," in the American Journal of Comparative Law (1999); "Civil Rights Perestroika: Intergroup Relations After Affirmative Action," in the California Law Review (1998), and The Content of Our Categories: A Cognitive Bias Approach to Discrimination and Equal Employment Opportunity 47 Stanford Law Review 1161 (1995). During the 1999-2000 academic year, she was a visiting scholar at Stanford University. She also received Boalt's Rutter Award for Teaching Distinction in 2000.
