Materials:

The book for the course is Carter, Trimble and Bradley, International Law (4 th Ed. 2003) along with the documentary supplement. An accessible, yet sophisticated, introduction to the subject is Peter Malanczuk’s revised seventh edition of Akehurst’s Modern Introduction to International Law. A copy will be on reserve in the Library.

Office Hours:

Office hours are by appointment on Wednesday afternoons roughly 1:30 until 4:30. My office is Room 445 (North Addition). Appointments may be made by signing up on a form posted outside my door or with my secretary, Daphne Trowbridge Williams, in Room 428 at extension 642-2029.

23rd States and Other Major International Entities: The United Nations” Please read (1) Text book: pp 466 to 483 and (2) 2005 UN World Summit Fact Sheet. This session of the class will involve presentations by Professor Yehuda Blum of Hebrew University and the former Ambassador of Israel to the UN on reform of the Security Council and Robert C. O’Brien, a graduate of this School and currently Public Delegate of the United States to the United Nations. Lunch will be provided by the American Constitution Society.
