Nuclear weapon free zones have been established by treaties for a number of regions: Antarctica, Latin America and the Caribbean, the South Pacific, Southeast Asia and Africa. These treaties raise issues about the transit of nuclear warships, particularly in maritime areas adjacent to the territorial waters of zonal states in Latin America and the Caribbean and Southeast Asia.
