Boalt Police Review Advocates

The Boalt Police Review Advocates (BPRA) gives all Boalt students the opportunity to assist complainants at public hearings before the Berkeley and Oakland police review boards. BPRA provides a training on preparing cases, cross-examinations techniques, effective opening and closing statements, working with low-income clients, and other advocacy skills. BPRA provides a vital and unique service to the greater community, as the only local group solely devoted to providing pro-bono representation at these hearings.

In addition, students can volunteer at the Bay Area Police Watch monthly intake clinic where they talk to people who believe they might have been the victims of police misconduct and then present the relevant facts to an attorney on site who evaluates whether or not they have a claim.
