Our success in meeting the challenges facing us today, and those that will arise tomorrow, depends largely on our ability to quickly identify and adopt solutions. That makes our Boalt Hall Fund - a central component of the The Campaign for Boalt Hall - critically important to our success. Donations to the Boalt Hall Fund are unrestricted funds that we can spend as new needs arise. Having the financial freedom to respond quickly to new challenges can make the difference between achieving key goals in our quest for excellence and simply shelving them. Every dollar you donate to the Boalt Hall Fund affords us the extra measure of flexibility we need to help us fully realize our mission.
A couple of remarkable examples of the Boalt Hall Fund at work:
Responding to Hurricane Katrina: The storm devastated New Orleans and forced the law schools at Tulane and Loyola universities to close. With resources from the Boalt Hall Fund, we were one of the first institutions to open our doors to students displaced by the disaster. It's an inspiring example of our community’s generosity making a very real difference in the world.
Refurbishing the Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati Reading Room: When the “new” Boalt Hall opened in 1951, its main reading room was a showpiece: paneled in limba and teak with a strikingly patterned suspended ceiling and classic oak library furnishing. After a half-century, though, the room needed updating. Thanks to the Boalt Hall Fund, we've been able to restore the reading room to its former elegance with new flooring, electrical wiring, wireless computer network and furnishings.
