Dear Friends,

If you haven’t already, please mark your calendar for May 4, when we’ll be celebrating the achievements of three stellar members of the Boalt community at our annual Citation Award Dinner.

Just two weeks ago, we celebrated the achievements of seven other Boalt luminaries when California Lawyer magazine announced its 2007 California Lawyer Attorney of the Year awards. Among the 43 honorees were six Boalt alumni plus Dean Christopher Edley, who received sole honors in the education category.

California Lawyer honored Dean Edley in part for establishing multiple think tanks that are dramatically expanding the school’s research capabilities. This issue of eNews includes news from several of these research centers, which are getting off to fast starts in fields as diverse as criminal justice and the environment. It also reports a sampling of activity from Boalt’s clinical programs, where students and faculty are representing clients, winning cases, and stimulating dialogue among colleagues across the country.
