Wireless Access

Wireless access is currently available in Cafe Zeb, the North Addition Reading Room, and the top level of JSP as well as most classrooms. You can use this Airbears wireless access to check e-mail, browse the web, and even print from your computer. A valid CalNet ID is required to log in to Airbears. The following links provide more information about Airbears and wireless access from Boalt.

In order to take advantage of this wireless access, you will need to use an 802.11b wireless adapter with your laptop. These can be obtained at most computer retailers, including The Scholars Workstation here on campus. Wireless cards from major manufacturers, such as 3Com, Linksys, and Intel, should work fine. If you have questions about your wireless card or about obtaining one, please contact studentcomputing@law.berkeley.edu.

The article linked to below contains important information about dealing with potential computer security threats while using wireless Internet access.
