WILD for Human Rights launches OUR VOICE, a young women’s leadership program.
OUR VOICE will work with 15 young women between the ages of 18-22 from the East Bay region over the course of one year to build leadership skills, explore issues of criminalization, and engage in community advocacy. Participants will receive training on various legal and thematic topics such as human rights, criminal law and juvenile justice, immigration law and policy, among others as well as receive support in developing their own capacity for leadership and advocacy through skill-building workshops.
With the support of WILD staff, participants will engage in a community or advocacy project of their own design to apply the skills and knowledge they have acquired in the program.
OUR VOICE will provide an important link between U.C. Berkeley and the East Bay community and support the development of the next generation of social justice and human rights leaders.
