Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility

Learning the rules of professional responsibility that govern lawyers and the ethical obligations they owe other attorneys, their clients, the judicial system, and the community, is an essential part of legal education.  At Berkeley Law, we teach ethics in action, not only in the classroom.  Our clinical and field placement programs provide the guidance students need to make the sometimes difficult ethical decisions involved in actual law practice.  Our skills-based ethics courses provide opportunities for students to role-play and model responses to real-life ethical issues in a group setting, facilitated by experienced practitioners.  For those interested in a more traditional study of professional responsibility, we offer a number of classes taught by cutting-edge scholars in the field who will guide your analysis of current and recurring ethical challenges facing lawyers.
