Halloum Negotiation Competition
The Berkeley Law Board of Advocates proudly presents the Emma and Joseph H. Halloum Negotiation Competition. The Halloum Competition aims to develop real world negotiation and business transaction skills, and serves as Boalt Hall’s internal honors competition. Any law student who is not on an ADR team is welcome to take part in the competition. The tournament tests the raw talent and skill of participants. We especially welcome students who have no prior negotiating experience. It is a fantastic way to become involved with the Board of Advocates, as participants will be scouted for competitive negotiation and mediation teams.
The competition gives Berkeley Law students an opportunity to experience being corporate lawyers: making business deals and working cooperatively with individuals both alongside and across the negotiation table. Students work in paired teams of two, with each team representing a side in a complex business deal problem. Both corporate lawyer practitioners from the Bay Area and experienced Berkeley Law ADR team competitors will judge each round of negotiations.
