Letters of Recommendation

Three letters of recommendation are requested. It is preferable that these letters come from your law professors. If you have been out of school for five or more years, professional references from up to two current or former employers are appropriate, in addition to a letter from a law professor.

A waiver form with instructions is included in the application. If you choose to waive your right to inspect your letters, please print three copies, sign them and distribute one to each of your recommenders. By agreeing to waive your right to inspect your letters, your recommenders are free to write candidly; as a result, letters with enclosed waiver forms are generally viewed with greater credibility than those without waivers.

Recommenders may send their letter with enclosed waiver form directly to the Advanced Law Degree Programs Office, or they may return it to you in a sealed envelope. If your recommenders return letters to you, you should forward them along with your other application materials to the Advanced Law Degree Programs Office at the following address:
