Digital Rights Management and Fair Use by Design

Type: Research Paper
Year: 2003

Clinic Director Deirdre Mulligan discusses how technology firms are under pressure to use digital rights management (DRM) to protect copyrighted material in her article "Digital Rights Management and Fair Use by Design." Copyrighted material is being copied on the Net, and copyright owners are urging technology firms to incorporate DRM into their systems. The paper seeks to address whether DRM will take away from individuals' rights to read, lend and resell.
