Boalt Reception Honors Fellowship Recipients

At a Boalt Hall reception on March 1, Dean Christopher Edley honored five Boalt students who have been awarded post-graduate fellowships in public interest law. The recipients who were awarded Skadden Fellowships are: Thomas Plummer '05, who is developing a legal services program in the Bay Area for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth for Legal Services for Children; Karen Tumlin '04, who is developing impact litigation to protect and advance workplace rights of immigrants for the National Immigration Law Center in Los Angeles; and Yungsuhn Park '05, who is working against sweatshops in Los Angeles with the Asian Pacific American Legal Center.

The recipients who were awarded Equal Justice Works Fellowships are: Nora Preciado '05, who is working to ensure interpreter and translation services at hospitals for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund; and Rachael Knight '05, who is working on child health and welfare issues for Legal Aid of San Mateo. The reception also celebrated the contributions of past fellowship recipients engaged in social justice work.
