Student Journals Host Daylong Symposium on Prop. 209

A student-organized conference Overturning 209: A Joint Symposium & Movement on Thursday, April 6, will explore the impact of the voter-passed initiative in 1996 that banned affirmative action in state and local agencies, and discuss strategies for overturning it.

The daylong symposium is coordinated by the Asian American Law Journal, the Berkeley Journal of African-American Law & Policy, the Berkeley Journal of Gender, Law &Justice and the Berkeley La Raza Law Journal. It takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Pauley Ballroom on the Berkeley campus. The keynote speaker is Eva Paterson '75, president and co-founder of the Equal Justice Society.
