David Coleman
After graduating from Harvard Law School and studying in England on a Knox Fellowship, David Coleman moved to the Bay Area to take a staff attorney position at the National Housing and Economic Development Law Center in Berkeley. Since 1974 he has worked in the public defender's office in Contra Costa County, where he now serves as the public defender. At Boalt he teaches Criminal Procedure and Evidence. He has served on the boards of California Attorneys for Criminal Justice and the State Bar Standing Committee on Legal Services, and is currently a member of the board of the First District Appellate Project and a member of the Judicial Council's Criminal Law Advisory Committee.
