Plan your visit

Berkeley Law School sits on the beautiful campus of the University of California, Berkeley. Situated between the foothills and the Bay, we offer something for everyone. If you are able to visit, plan for a fun, full day.

Although we don't offer guided tours, you are very welcome to visit the law school. To help you plan your visit and to make the best use of your time, we'd like to highlight some of your options below.

Connecting with Campus - Tours

You can take a self-guided tour of the law school. Be sure to grab a snack at Café Zeb, visit the Law Library Reading Room, and check out our newly-renovated classrooms.

If you are interested in getting to know the wider campus and community, free campus tours are provided daily. They leave from University Hall, located about 15 minutes from the law school.

Connecting with the Law School – Classes, Faculty, Clinics, Centers & Events

We encourage you to observe classes that interest you to get a sense of the students, faculty, and “feel” of Berkeley Law.  Many prospective applicants opt to visit both a first-year class and an upper-division class in an area that appeals to them.

We ask that you arrive at the classroom five minutes before class is scheduled to introduce yourself to the professor and to let them know you are a prospective applicant visiting the law school. You should ask if they have a preference about where you sit as some classes have assigned seating. As a courtesy, please don’t enter classes late or leave early. Plan to stay the entire time.

Connecting with Students – Student Organizations

We also recommend finding time to chat with current students - you will discover that they are quite friendly and approachable. To contact a specific student group (e.g., Law Students of African Descent, The Federalist Society, Queer Caucus, etc.) check out the list of student organizations here: http://www.law.berkeley.edu/students/jrnlorgs/orgs/

There is definitely something for everyone! The organization list provides contact information, and all of our student groups are readily accessible and willing to answer questions about life, school, and everything else at Berkeley.
