Phone Features

The following features cost $5 to install and do not have a monthly fee. To have a feature installed on your phone, send an email to phones@law.berkeley.edu with your name, phone number, room number, and feature(s) you would like installed as well as the chartstring to which you would like the order charged. Please obtain appropriate supervisory approval before sending the order email. More phone features are listed in your Campus Directory, starting on page 10.

Note: When trying to use the following features, if you hear a busy signal instead of the specified special tone, then you do not have that feature installed.


Phone features for PBX Standard lines (Cortelco sets at Boalt)

Transfer
To transfer a call to another number:
• Flash the switch hook.
• Dial the number where you want to transfer the caller.
• Announce call and hang up.
To return to caller:
• Flash the switch hook twice.

Conference
To add a third party to a call:
• Flash the switch hook.
• Dial the number of the party you wish to add.
• Flash the switch hook.
(If there is no answer or the line is busy, fl ash the switch
hook twice to return to original party.)
To drop the last party added:
• Flash the switch hook.

Call Forwarding
To redirect all calls to another extension:
• Dial *12.
• Dial the number where calls are to be sent.
• Hang up.
To cancel call forwarding:
• Dial #12.
Send all Calls (Do Not Disturb)

To send all incoming calls immediately to voicemail:
• Dial *3.
• Hang up.
To cancel:
• Dial #3.


Phone features for PBX Digital lines (Avaya sets at Boalt)

Transfer
To transfer a call:

• Press the TRANSFER button.
• Dial extension.
• Announce call (optional).
• Hang up.
To return to original call:
• Press the call appearance button where call is holding.

Conference (Up to 3)
To make a conference call:
• With a call in progress, press the CONFERENCE button.
• Dial the number.
• When party answers, press the CONFERENCE button.
To drop the last party:
• Press the appropriate call appearance button.
• Press the DROP button.

Call Forward
To forward your phone to another extension:
• Scroll and select the “CFrwd” softkey.
• Dial extension where calls should go.
• Wait for confi rmation tone.
• Hang up.
To cancel:
• Scroll and select the “CFrwd” softkey.


Phone features for Centrex users (Telegraph office phones)

Call Transfer allows you to transfer calls that you have initiated or received at an on-campus telephone number.
• FLASH once to put first party on "hold"
• Hear special dial tone
• Dial campus number
• Announce transfer (optional)
• Hang up

Three-Way Conference allows you to establish a conference with two other parties. It can also be used to transfer phone calls.
• FLASH once to put the first party on "hold"
• Hear special dial tone
• Dial desired number of second party
• Announce conference
• FLASH once to connect all callers to conference
• When conference is complete, hang up

Call Forward Variable allows you to forward incoming calls to another telephone number. This feature must be activated and deactivated from the same telephone. Call Forward Variable may be limited to campus only or may be unlimited; please specify which type you are requesting when you order this feature.

To activate:
• Lift handset
• Hear dial tone
• Dial "12#"
• Hear special dial tone
• Dial the phone number (including "9" if dialing an off-campus number) to which calls are to be forwarded
• Hear confirmation tone
• Hang up

To deactivate:
• Lift handset
• Hear special dial tone
• Dial "72"
• Hear confirmation tone
• Hang up
