Julie Freccero
JULIE FRECCERO is the Policy Analyst for the Sexual Violence and Accountability Project. She focuses on the design and implementation of the Safe Shelters Project, a qualitative study of GBV safe houses and other protection measures in the context of forced displacement. Previously, Julie was the Program Officer for Violence against Women at UN Women in Tanzania, where she managed the agency’s research and advocacy initiatives to improve protection and support services for survivors. She also planned and evaluated jail-based health programs and reentry services available to individuals incarcerated on Rikers Island for the New York City Department of Correction. Julie’s public health research and practice focus on rights-based approaches to health, gender-based violence and women’s empowerment, refugee and immigrant health, and criminal justice programs. Julie has conducted research in Cambodia, Kenya, Tanzania, and along the Thailand-Burma border. She holds a M.P.H. in Health and Social Behavior from UC Berkeley. Contact Julie Freccero.
