Summer Fellowships
How can I make $4000 this summer?
For Summer 2008, fellowship funding is again available through the Boalt Hall Summer Fellowship Program, which provides up to $6,000 of funding, $4000 of which can be taken during a first summer of eligible public interest work, to all JD students who request the support and meet the qualification requirements, detailed in the Fellowship Guidelines and Application (which will be available in early March). (For information about how to meet the pro bono hours requirement, go to the Pro Bono and Public Service webpage.) All 1Ls, as well as 2Ls who did not receive any Boalt Hall Summer fellowship funding last year, will be considered “first-time” applicants. For “first-time” Boalt Hall Summer Fellowship applicants, the Committee will simply review the applications to insure all of the pre-requisites have been satisfied (see the 2007 Boalt Hall Summer Fellowship Guidelines and Application for a list of pre-requisites). If the pre-requisites have been satisfied, their grant will be “automatic.”
Keep in mind that by seeking external, student organization, or Federal Work Study funding, the savviest Boalt students maximize the amount of summer funds available to them through the Boalt Hall Summer Fellowship.
