JD Graduates: Please Fill Out The Employment Survey
Hope you can spare a minute to fill out our official Graduate Employment Survey (GES).
There's a shortcut to the Survey on the right sidebar menu of the b-Line homepage.
I know we've asked you for similar information in the past and I really appreciate those who responded -- it really helped provide us with a snapshot of where the market has been heading and which of you were looking for positions at certain points in time. But, the Graduate Employment Survey is a little different. It asks a specific set of questions, which are the same for law students across the country. We report these results in aggregate form -- with no identifying information -- to the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) and to some other national surveying entities to provide a complete national legal employment picture. So, even if you already let us know where you're going, we would really appreciate it if you would take a few minutes to fill out the GES.
In order to insure uniform responses across various schools, NALP developed a specific set of rules that govern the reporting of employment data, which apply to each and every law school, as well as a useful set of FAQs for students (if, for example, you would like to know more about why salary information is requested or how temporary or short-term jobs are counted and reported). If you have any questions or concerns about the survey or the reporting requirements, please feel free to contact me directly.
In addition to assisting us in meeting our reporting obligations, your responses will help us channel information to you about your specific employer or chosen law firm market. They will also enable us to improve upon the advice we give to alums as well as future and prospective students.
IF YOU ARE STILL ON THE JOB MARKET: and haven't yet talked to anyone in the CDO about your job search, please contact us by return email or make an appointment with one of us so we can develop or refine your search strategy. It would be helpful to know the geographic region and practice areas you are considering.
If you are having trouble with the above b-Line link, try accessing b-Line from this page --remember, though, you will need to enter the general CDO login information to access this page: cdo (userid) and cdoaccess (password)].
If you encounter any difficulties in filling out the survey, please contact Marty Grenhart at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
