By linking the legal academy and the university with both lawyers and the community at large, the Henderson Center for Social Justice provides scholars and activists a unique opportunity to work collaboratively in the search for solutions to our most pressing social problems. By critically analyzing the social injustices in our society and the needs of underserved communities, the center can also prepare law students to be more effective social justice advocates.
The center's faculty members are leaders in their fields and distinguish themselves by the quality of their scholarship and teaching. Professors with a broad cross section of interests in social justice issues bring a depth of knowledge from a wide range of experiences and scholarly research perspectives. In addition they have expertise in the areas of race and class, environmental justice, feminist jurisprudence, clinical education, disability law, immigration law, sexual orientation and the law, and human and civil rights.
To fulfill its mission, the Center offers a wide range of programs.
